Billy Corgan Releasing Limited Edition ‘Experimental’ Album, Recorded in 2007
If you’re, you know, really into Billy Corgan, has he got a deal for you.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman recorded AEGEA, an “experimental in nature” album of material, in 2007, and now he’s finally letting it see the light of day via a limited edition release in the near future, Rolling Stone reports.
AEGEA will be released via just 250 vinyl copies initially, with each disc annotated and hand-numbered by Corgan himself. They’re set to retail for $60.

“As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with,” Corgan related in a post on his website. “Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”
AEGEA is set for release sometime in the next six to eight weeks.
The release of AEGEA follows Corgan’s 8-hour freeform jam based off the novel Siddhartha he performed in his Chicago tea shop last month and precedes two albums of new material from the Smashing Pumpkins, which are purportedly arriving next year.
According to Corgan, Monuments to an Elegy and Day for Night will feature “guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars.” Whatever the case in terms of sound, they’ll be the first new albums of Pumpkins material since 2012′s Oceania.
