Iconic horror movie actor Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93.

He passed away in a London hospital on Sunday, his family have confirmed. He’d been under medical supervision for three weeks.

Lee is remembered for a chain of Hammer House Of Horror films and as Scaramanga in James Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun. But he found a new audience as Saruman in the Lord Of The Rings series, and as Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel films.

 Ozzy Osbourne Looks Back At Randy Rhoads' Audition was a top story.  Ozzy Osbourne shares the story of auditioning guitarist Randy Rhoads with his son, Jack, in the third and final episode of a three-part series for Noisey entitled Back & Forth.
Rhoads entered Ozzy's life as he was trying to build a band following his dismissal from Black Sabbath in April of 1979. Bassist Dana Strum - who later went on to form Slaughter - was working with Ozzy to audition players when he brought Rhoads in to the studio.

"This little guy comes in with blonde hair and I thought, 'Is that a chick?'," Ozzy explains. "He spoke and suddenly my ears perked up. He says, "Well, what do you want me to play?' I said, 'Play anything.' So he starts playing and I'm like - even in my drunken, stoned-out stupor - I go, 'Either this is f***ing one of the best things I've ever heard in my life or these drugs are really good'"

Rhoads joined Ozzy's new band, Blizzard Of Ozz, and went on to record the group's explosive 1980 debut and 1981's "Diary Of A Madman" before being killed in a plane accident at the age of 25 on March 19, 1982 while on tour with Osbourne. "I truly believe if hadn't got killed when he did he would be up there with the big guys," says Ozzy. "He was f***ing phenomenal."

Ozzy Osbourne Planning 2015 ‘Ozzfiesta’ Extravaganza in Mexico

.. Slayer have inspired the creation of a sports car described as a "multimedia machine." The special edition is under production by US manufacture Scion, a division of Toyota that aims for a younger audience.

Bosses say: "Slayer has a look, sound and approach all its own. The band's aggressive style carries into the tC sports coupe's exterior look and band-inspired details. Inside, the vehicle has been transformed into a multimedia machine with amps, towers of speakers, a custom mixer and a 32-inch monitor for media playback."

METALLICA GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo says the band will get together this month to continue work on their 10th album – the follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic.

The band released Lords Of Summer – First Pass Version in June, with drummer Lars Ulrich stating the track was “fairly representative” of Metallica’s new material.

Now Trujillo says they’ll get together this month to begin fleshing out tracks they’ve been working on.

He tells Lucas H Gordon's YouTube channel: “We’ve been writing for a couple of years. We had a 3D movie called Through The Never, so that detoured us along with a couple of other things. But mid-September, we’re going to get back to the drawing board and continue to jam and write and prepare new music for the universe.”

Metallica were entered into the Guinness World Records earlier this month for being the first musical act to play all seven continents in one year. They set the record after playing the Freeze ‘Em All show in Antarctica in December 2013.

He continues: “Antarctica was really special. To see such a pure part of the world was an incredible sight – it’s also dangerous.

“There are icicles as big as buildings hanging from grand palaces of blue ice and it’s breathtaking. But you can’t get too close to it because it’s always breaking, causing avalanches.”

The band say they are hopeful of releasing their new album next year.

Hellion Announce First New Album and Tour In A Decade


 Hellion is back. The veteran metal band has announced their plans to release their first new album and launch their first tour in over a decade this October.
The band will be releasing their new mini-album, entitled "Karma's A Bitch," on October 7th in North America and on October 8th in Europe and the UK.

The current lineup of the group features singer Ann Boleyn, drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio, and UFO), keyboardist Scott Warren (Dio and Heaven & Hell), bassist Bjorn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen), and guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.

"Karma's A Bitch," was produced by Hellion's Wright and Boleyn along with producer Ken Scott, who is best know for his work on David Bowie's "Hunky Dory", "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", "Aladdin Sane" and "Pinups".

Hellion will be supporting the new mini-album release by launching a North American tour on October 2nd at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles. The trek will be concluding on October 30th Brick By Brick in San Diego.

Producer Ken Scott had this to say, "Working with Bowie or working with Ann of Hellion, you've got sheer talent." and adds, "Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it's new musicians. The one constant thing about Hellion is Ann, and her incredible voice."

 El sábado por la tarde tuvo lugar la segunda edición de Metal Kids, una presentación que conjunta obra de teatro, música y artes plásticas y que enfoca su mirada en los niños que desde pequeños muestran un gusto por la música rock, en específico del metal.

En el Zentrro Underground se dieron cita cerca de medio centenar de familias que acudieron: la vestimenta fue la característica con las camisas de los grupos representativos de los subgéneros que tiene el metal: desde Slayer y Kiss hasta Rammstein o Symphony X. La iniciativa realizar Metal Kids surge por Craned, una asociación que se dedica a la organización y comunicación de todo lo que tenga que ver con el metal, además de tener su programa de radio en internet. En esta ocasión en especial, el motivo para tener una tardeada con los niños en donde haya obra de teatro y música en vivo es para llenar ese hueco que existe en la oferta cultural para los hijos de los padres aficionados al metal. Uno de los éxitos de la primera edición de Metal Kids es la banda September Gods, un cuarteto formado por niños y adolescentes que en noviembre del año pasado eran público en el evento, pero que ahora debutaron con un pequeño set compuesto por cóvers de Black Sabbath, AC/DC y Judas Priest, entre otros clásicos.

En opinión de Óscar Arreola, el conjunto de actividades de Metal Kids le permite a los niños probarse en diferentes áreas artísticas: primero la pintura, luego ven teatro y tienen siempre presente la música. También realizaron un concurso de canto con una bicicleta para el primer lugar.

Con este tipo de eventos comprueban que se puede convivir en un ambiente familiar con este tipo de música que varios sectores de la sociedad han prejuiciado por la indumentaria obscura que prevalece. Pero sobre todo consideran crucial el acercamiento a la música desde una temprana edad, ya que si un niño toca un instrumento su psicomotricidad y capacidad de concentración serán mejores. Para la tercera edición esperan el debut de otro grupo de pequeños que formaron parte del público la tarde del sábado.

El objetivo de Craned es seguir creciendo y continuar con esta oferta y tener una tercera edición en el mes de noviembre (la primera edición tuvo una buena convocatoria, de ahí que buscaron un lugar más grande para ésta segunda). Además, ya están en planes para organizar conciertos de metal ya sólo para adultos en los próximos meses.

MICHAEL MONROE: HANOI ROCKS WILL NEVER REUNITE

Michael Monroe says that Hanoi Rock will never reunite again. Monroe, who fronted the group during two separate spells, believes that here’s no need to do so because his current solo group is “more of a band” than the unit that Hanoi became during their second incarnation.

The singer spoke on behalf of Hanoi whilst collecting an Inspiration award at Metal Hammer’s recent Golden Gods ceremony.

“This is the band’s first ever award, and I flew in especially to accept it,” he enthused. “Hanoi Rocks are still one of the best-kept secrets in rock‘n’roll, but it’s great that some people still remember us as a very special band.”

Their style was certainly a big influence upon a raft of better known bands including Guns N’ Roses, Poison, Skid Row and Alice In Chains. Formed in Helsinki in 1979 Hanoi nevertheless spent some of their earliest and most important years in London where they met their best-known drummer, Razzle, in 1982. The Englishman perished needlessly two years later as a passenger in a vehicle driven by an inebriated Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil.

Monroe insists that although the band reunited for a second eight-year spell in 2001, a third run is out of the question.

“Hanoi broke up [first time around] when  Razzle died and Nasty [Suicide, guitarist] left the band – it was more important to save the integrity of what we were doing than to push on for the sake of it,” he says. “Nobody could replace Razzle or Nasty. For Hanoi, none of the usual rules applied, getting rich and famous really wasn’t what it was about. So we stopped.”

According to Monroe, “tragic events” were a unifying factor when he and guitarist Andy McCoy revived the group some 16 years later. “My wife of 15 years had passed away and Andy had fallen off a three-story balcony and almost died. We recovered from those things together.”

After what he calls “three good studio albums” the revived band “ran its course and stopped having a good time”. Monroe, who is proud that they did so “without resorting to bullshit and shit-talking”, says, pointedly: “The real Hanoi was the Hanoi of the 1980s – the one with Razzle. I didn’t want to call [the second group] Hanoi Rocks because it’s impossible for Hanoi to reunite without Razzle.

“Why should I even need to?” continues the frontman, who in 2011 won Album Of The Year for his solo release Sensory Overdrive at Classic Rock Roll Of Honour. “Sami [Yaffa, Hanoi bassist, 1980-1985] is in my band – that’s two original Hanoi members. We’ve got Steve Conte [guitar, also associated with the New York Dolls], Ginger Wildheart, Dregen [guitar, Hellacopters/Backyard Babies] and either Rich Jones [a much-travelled Englishman] or even Nasty Suicide, who has visited us a few times. It’s called Michael Monroe, but it’s more of a band than that thing I had with Andy McCoy. I’m happier than ever.”

Así se refirió al festival que dura cuatro días y además de conferencias, proyecciones de cine, foros de spoken word y diversas manifestaciones de arte, tiene un tremendo line up: que va desde Lilly Allen y Jack White hasta Metronomy y MGMT, Kaiser Chiefs y una lista sábana de cama king size. Aunque posiblemente, Dickinson se dirigió más a Metallica, que cierran el Pyramid Stage, el sábado 28. Argentina está representada por Bajofondo y Violentango.

Mastodon Expand North American Tour

Mastodon have announced that they have added additional dates to their upcoming North American headline tour this spring that will feature support from Gojira and Kvelertak.
The tour will now include stops in Seattle, WA on April 28th, Salt Lake City, UT on May 4th, Denver, CO on May 5th and head north to Toronto, ONT on May 10th.

The trek is now scheduled to kick off with the newly announced Seattle date and will be concluding on May 18th in Columbus, OH with an appearance at this year's Rock On The Range Festival.

Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher had this to say about the tour, "Mastodon touring with Kvelertak and Gojira !!! Man, this is one tour dream come true! first of all Kvelertak and Gojira are 2 of my favorite bands at the moment, both putting out slamming records last year.

Metallica, Corey Taylor, Rob Halford, Motohead and More To Tribute Dio

An all-star collection of hard rock and heavy metal artists are paying tribute to the carrier of metal legend Ronnie James Dio in a new album, entitled "This is Your Life," which will be released on April 1st.
The collection covers tracks from Ronnie's career in Dio, Rainbow and Black Sabbath and features contributes from Metallica, Motorhead with Saxon's Biff Byford, Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Anthrax, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, Scorpions, Halestorm, Adrenaline Mob, Glenn Hughes, Killswitch Engage, some of Dio's former bandmates and more.

The album was produced by Dio's wife and manager Wendy Dio and some of the money raised from the collection will towards the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

We were sent these details: Ronnie's time with Rainbow will be covered by Metallica's epic, nine-minute "Ronnie Rising Medley," which combines the Rainbow songs "A Light In The Black," "Tarot Woman," "Stargazer," and "Kill The King." Scorpions add a scorching take on "The Temple Of The King" while Motörhead is joined by Biff Byford from Saxon on "Starstruck." Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for "The Man On The Silver Mountain." The final line-up of Dio's solo band - Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo and Scott Warren - are joined by Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) for "Catch The Rainbow," a track from Rainbow's 1975 debut.

Anthrax and Adrenaline Mob honor Dio's time with Black Sabbath with their takes on "Neon Knights" and "The Mob Rules" respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs "I" from Dehumanizer.

The album also features material from Dio's back-to-back platinum albums Holy Diver (1983) and The Last In Line (1984), with Doro's take on "Egypt (The Chains Are On)", Halestorm tackling "Straight Through The Heart," Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot) covering the classic "Rainbow In The Dark" and Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Glass) putting their signature spin on "The Last In Line." Killswitch Engage's cover of "Holy Diver," a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.

Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album's title) with his moving performance of "This Is Your Life." Originally released on Angry Machines (1996), the song's lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio's again.

Poco antes que se cumplan cuatro años de la muerte de Ronnie James Dio debido a un cáncer de estómago saldrá a la venta un álbum tributo a una de las figuras del metal que está encabezado por Metallica y Motörhead.

"This is Your Life" es el nombre del disco que estará compuesto por 14 canciones en las que participarán también Anthrax, Tenacious D, Rob Halford y Adrenaline Mob, entre otros nombres.

El álbum fue producido por la viuda del vocalista, Wendy Dio, e incluirá un medley de nueve minutos de Metallica con canciones de Rainbow, uno de los proyectos de Dio, quien también estuvo al frente de Black Sabbath entre 1979 y 1982, y luego entre 1991 y 1992.

También se incluye como canción final "This is Your Life" interpretada por el fallecido cantante, que originalmente fue parte del álbum "Angry Machines" de 1996.

El dinero recaudado por el álbum, que estará disponible a partir del 1 de abril, irá hacia la fundación Ronnie James Dio, que apoya la investigación y prevención del cáncer, co-fundada por Wendy Dio.

Def Leppard singer to produce Black Star Riders sophomore album

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott will produce the sophomore album by Thin Lizzy off-shoot Black Star Riders, the band announced Monday.

Black Star Riders will enter the studio in Dublin, Ireland in October to start recording the follow-up to 2013’s “All Hell Breaks Loose” with Elliott and Def Leppard emgineer Ronan McHugh.

“Joe Elliott's passion, enthusiasm for music, as a fan, artist and friend is unquestionable and Ronan McHugh is a phenomenal engineer,” says singer Ricky Warwick. “Personally having worked with these guys before, it was a no brainer when they said they would like to produce the new BSR album. We are confident that this will be a huge leap forward in the evolution of BSR.”

“Having worked with [guitarist] Scott [Gorham] on the Thin Lizzy remixes a few years ago & having produced Ricky’s 1st 2 solo albums, I’m looking forward to taking our musical journey together even further,” adds Elliott. “We’re aiming to make a serious leap forward with the next album & I’m proud to be able to contribute to the next chapter in the BSR story.

The new, as yet untitled, album will be released in the spring of 2015 .

In the meantime, Black Star Riders will play a Japanese tour in May, with a series of summer shows to be announced.

Tickets for the Japanese concerts go on sale February 7.

The former members of Thin Lizzy rebranded themselves as Black Star Riders late in 2012 but continue to perform material from their old group.

Joe Elliot (Def Leppard) produce a Black Star Riders

Black Star Riders, la banda formada con ex miembros de Thin Lizzy, lanzaron su primer álbum “All Hell Breaks Loose” el año pasado. Después de una exitosa gira, la banda se está preparando para grabar su segundo trabajo. Joe Elliot, de Def Leppard, se ha convertido en el productor de la banda. Elliot trabajó previamente en la reedición del “Jailbreak” de Thin Lizzy en 2011, así como la producción de los dos primeros álbumes en solitario del cantante de Black Star Riders, Ricky Warwick.

Warwick habló sobre la participación de Elliot en un comunicado de la banda: “La pasión de Joe Elliott, el entusiasmo por la música, como fan, artista y amigo es incuestionable y Ronan McHugh es un ingeniero fenomenal. Personalmente después de haber trabajado con estos chicos antes, no hubo duda cuando dijeron que les gustaría producir el nuevo álbum de BSR .  Fallece a los 51 años Jan Kuehnemund, guitarrista de Vixen

Jan Kuehnemund, guitarrista de la banda de glam-metal Vixen, falleció el 10 de octubre a causa de un cáncer. Tenía 51 años. Nacida en Paul, Minnesota, Kuehnemund formó Vixen cuando iba al instituto. En 1981 se trasladó a Los Ángeles, donde Vixen se fue abriendo camino en la escena del metal local. Su primer álbum,“Vixen”, llegó en 1988. La banda se separó en 1991, regresando en diversas ocasiones a partir de 2001. En 2006 apareció el cuarto álbum de Vixen, “Live & Learn”. ‘Edge of a Broken Heart’ y ‘Cryin’ fueron los mayores éxitos comerciales de la banda de Jan Kuehnemund, que llegó a telonear a Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss y Deep Purple.

Jan Kuehnemund, the guitarist and founder member of pioneering all-girl rockers Vixen, died last Thursday, 10 October, after a long battle with cancer.
Kuehnemund originally formed the band in St. Paul, Minnesota, before moving to Los Angeles and becoming forever associated with the burgeoning 80s rock scene. In an era of absurdly mascara'd male rockers with over-done hairdos and lipsticked pouts, Vixen were proudly female in this feminized man's world.

Like a quartet of Krystle Carringtons in skin-tight leotards, their debut album Vixen (1988) had material from outside writers (Richard Marx among them) but successor Rev It Up (1990) was full of self-written songs, and the band seemed well placed to become the female equivalent to Bon Jovi

BANGKOK, TAILANDIA (05/SEP/2013).- Las autoridades de Malasia han prohibido el concierto que la banda de heavy metal estadounidense Lamb of God tenía previsto ofrecer en Kuala Lumpur el 28 de este mes debido a sus letras blasfemas, indicaron los medios locales.


El Ministerio de Comunicación malasio señaló que las actuaciones del grupo, nominado a un premio Grammy en 2006, pueden herir la sensibilidad religiosa y los valores culturales de la sociedad malasia, señaló el diario "The Star".

El director del Departamento de Desarrollo Islámico de Malasia, Othman Mustapha, afirmó que Lamb of God ("Cordero de Dios", en inglés) utiliza de forma blasfema versos de Corán en sus canciones, en referencia al tema "Laid to rest" del álbum "Ashes of the Wake".

La canción relata la voz de una víctima que acecha a su asesino desde la tumba, aunque también es una crítica de la invasión de Irak por Estados Unidos en 2003.

La banda, que se formó en 1990 bajo el nombre Burn the Priest ("Quema al sacerdote", en inglés), está formada por el cantante Randy Blythe, los guitarristas Mark Morton y Willie Adler, el bajo John Campbell y Chris Adler a la batería.

El miércoles, Lamb of God lamentó en un comunicado que las autoridades hayan prohibido el concierto a causa de un examen superficial de sus letras.

"Invitamos a cualquier ofendido por nuestra música a tener un debate sobre las verdaderas motivaciones de nuestro trabajo, especialmente antes de difamarnos públicamente utilizando conjeturas y malinterpretaciones superficiales", puntualizó la formación.

Los descubrí a principios de los 80s, gracias a un buen amigo, Pablo Flores cuando colaboraba en un programa especial llamado Barra Rock, en la época de Lacho Pedraza en Stereo Rock. El era un metalero de hueso colorado y tenia toda la discografia de la banda.
Recomendada la era con Michael Schenker, la banda tiene su feeling.

Rock veterans UFO will be celebrating Rocktober in North America. The band announced a series of North American tour dates that will be taking place this fall.
The band has announced the initial dates for the trek, which at this point is set to launch on October 10th in Poughkeepsie, New York at The Chance and will conclude on October 22nd in Dallas, Texas at the House of Blues.
So far the band has also announced stops in Toronto, Fall River MA, New York City, Sellersville PA, Akron OH, and St. Charles, IL, but they expect to announce additional dates soon.
UFO will be launching the tour in support of their latest studio album, "Seven Deadly," which was released in February of 2012.

The band features Rex Brown (bass; Pantera, Kill Devil Hill), Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (guitar; Guns N' Roses), Brian Thomas Tichy (drums; WHITESNAKE, Queensrÿche, Ozzy Osbourne, S.U.N.) and Mark Zavon (guitar; Kill Devil Hill), and have announced a couple of live appearances this month to celebrate Brown's birthday.

The project came together when the members were asked to take part in the charity album, KISS 40th Anniversary Tribute album for cancer care. The band sent out these comments:

Rex Brown, "We each got asked to play on this tribute album to benefit cancer research. Obviously, it was for a great cause and we wanted to be a part of it, but I think it also came from a place of real passion too. Each of us were hugely influenced by KISS early in our lives, so the chance to play on those tracks was a real honor. After we'd heard what we'd recorded, we thought it would be a lot of fun to do it live.

"As it turned out, Mark and I had just finished recording the upcoming Kill Devil Hill album, and had a small window of time this summer before we head out on the road again. The timing perfectly coincided with breaks in Ron and Brian's schedules as well, so we decided to put this thing together!"

Rex continues, "I remember I was in 7th grade & this chick had a copy of ALIVE! I swiped it & it changed the future of rock and roll as I know it!! They were like "gods" to this scrawny kid from Texas learning to play guitar!! They are one of the reasons I jam to this day!! I got to open up for them numerous times in stadiums & it's the attitude and the songs, not the schtick, that I go back to every time!!"

Tichy adds, "I thought KISS ALIVE! was the loudest record ever when I first heard it! KISS was the first band I got into. Peter Criss was my first drum idol and he is where I started as a drummer! When the idea of all of us going for this together was brought up, we all reacted with unbridled excitement to how much fun and how powerful this could be! I can't wait to play with these badass musicians I am proud to call friends!"

When asked about KISS's influence on him, Thal said, "Hearing the KISS "Alive!" album at the age of 5 is what made me want to play guitar and join a band. I'm looking forward to playing the songs that launched my life!"

Zavon said, "When I was 14 I borrowed 'Destroyer' from the public library and have never been the same since."

A.L.I.V.E.! will perform material off of KISS's hugely influential Alive! and Alive II records as well as some of their personal favorites.

La nota no es tan nueva, pero que rica es la cerveza. 
 
 La agrupación inglesa Iron Maiden, una de las bandas icónicas del rock y el heavy metal, lanzó hace unas semanas su propia cerveza, la cual bautizaron como Trooper en honor a la canción incluida en el álbum Piece of Mind, cuarto disco en la carrera de la banda, lanzado en 1983.

La bebida, producida por la marca inglesa Robinsons Brewery, ha tenido tal aceptación que la fábrica ha tenido que trabajar tres veces más de lo normal durante los últimos días para poder satisfacer la demanda proveniente de todas partes del mundo.La creación de esta cerveza, según medios ingleses, surgió a iniciativa de Bruce Dickinson, vocalista de la banda, quien en conjunto con los demás miembros del grupo trabajó hasta conseguir un destilado tipo Golden Ale, es decir, que Trooper es una cerveza de tonos color ámbar y con cuerpo ligero, a la que el grupo le añadió algunos toques cítricos, lo que le ha valido una gran respuesta por parte de sus seguidores que, además, disfrutan de la etiqueta que envuelve la botella.En ella se aprecia una parte de la portada del sencillo “The Trooper”, en donde aparece la imagen de “Eddie Maiden”, la mascota del grupo, ataviado con un uniforme del ejército inglés y sujetando una bandera del Reino Unido desgarrada.

The 9th of May 2013 was certainly a day to remember in Robinsons staggering 175 year legacy as they expected a product launch like no other before … and they were not disappointed! With a reception attended by over 100 influential brewing trade representatives from both the UK and Internationally, TROOPER beer was officially launched.

And what better venue to pull the first cask pint of Trooper than the brew house in which the beer was made. Robinsons brand new multi million pound Visitors Centre was aptly and tastefully kitted out in full Trooper garb. The stylish back bar was stacked with gleaming bottles of this new Premium British Beer, the solid copper bar proudly displayed the striking Trooper pump clip (soon to be seen on bars all over the country), and even the foodstuff was specially created using Trooper ale.

Bruce Dickinson not only attended the Trade Launch, but he also conducted a tour of the Brewery to explain to everyone first-hand the process of exactly how Trooper beer is made… Robinsons Brewery were so impressed with Bruce’s tour they offered him a slot as a Robinsons brewery tour guide (if he ever gets tired of performing to millions of Maiden fans, flying airplanes and fencing).

Robinsons Managing Director Oliver Robinson then gave a short speech about how the Iron Maiden/Robinsons collaboration came about and he presented Bruce with a specially engraved Brewery hand pump, in recognition of Trooper being the Fastest Ever Selling New Robinsons Beer. After much anticipation, Bruce then pulled the first-ever pint of Trooper from the cask in the Brewery bar amid loud applause from the assembled crowd. Everyone then got down to the serious business of tasting the beer for themselves and it was very well received judging by the number of smiling faces and approving comments heard around the room… not to mention the additional number of second, third and fourth pints consumed. In fact Robinsons’ own Head Brewer, Martyn Weeks pronounced it his favourite beer, and renowned beer writer Pete Brown remarked how he found Trooper to be very good indeed and extremely drinkable.

Finally when Bruce was asked to sum up his new ale in one word, he grinned and said ‘Trooperb’!

The unprecedented upfront demand for the beer meant that Robinsons had to brew three times a day, six days a week for the first time ever in the Brewery’s 175 year history to cope with pre-orders in excess of 300,000 pints … and that was before the beer had even been tasted. Robinsons have been overwhelmed by the number of enquiries they’ve had from all over the world (below is a comprehensive list of whereabouts the interest has come from – a staggering 184 countries!)
