Slash to begin recording new album next month
Slash is scheduled to begin recording his third solo album next month with Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators, and bassist Todd Kerns is updating fans on what they can expect from the follow-up to 2012’s “Apocalyptic Love.”
“So here we are,” writes Kerns on his blog. “Like prize fighters training and training for the fight of our lives. Now the big fight is upon us. We are lean. We are mean and we are, most assuredly, fighting machines.”
"I have to admit that, conceptually, I felt that 'Apocalyptic Love' would be a tough act to follow, but I can say with all the confidence in the world that we are more than armed and ready,” he continues. “Not only do I feel that the material surpasses 'Apocalyptic Love', I think we are ten times the band we were when that album was recorded.”
“The material on this album is more serious and more fun at the same time which is a tough balance indeed,” according to the bassist. “The songs are sleazier, tougher and more dangerous. Exactly where I feel most comfortable. We are all very excited to unleash the monster upon you as soon as we can.”
“We enter the studio early February and will work through the next few months,” he adds. “No plans as to when anything will be finished. It’ll be done when it’s done. I know we all hope to be back out on the road sooner than later but we’ll see.”
The project is being produced by Michael Baskette, known for his work with singer Myles Kennedy's other band, Alter Bridge.
“Our work with Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette has been a blast,” writes Kerns. “He’s been a lot of fun to have around and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty within the pre production process. All of the songs have taken on a new life under his whip. I’m enjoying every minute of this. Our engineer, Jef Moll, is a genius. This is an amazing team. Gonna be monstrous!”
“Apocalyptic Love” earned Slash his two first-ever #1 US rock radio hits: “You’re A Lie” and “Standing In The Sun.” The record’s third single, “Anastasia”, cracked the Top 10 at Modern and Active Rock and Top 5 at Mainsteam Rock.
Slash, en febrero las grabaciones para el nuevo álbum
El extravagante guitarrista ex Guns ‘n Roses, Slash, empezará las grabaciones de su nuevo disco de estudio muy pronto. Semanas, días, lo más importante es que la noticia ha sido confirmada por Todd Kerns, bajista que colabora con Slash desde hace años.
En un post publicado en su blog de música oficial, Kerns ha confirmado que el guitarrista entrará en el estudio de grabación en febrero.
“Hay que ser sinceros: conseguir publicar otro álbum que pueda alcanzar el nivel de ‘Apocalyptic love’ (último disco de Slash), no será nada fácil“. Pero el bajista tiene mucha confianza en el trabajo que el grupo podrá desarrollar: “Por otro lado seguramente tenemos cualidad y preparación para intentarlo. Tengo la sensación que el nuevo material pueda sorprender a nuestro publico y como banda, seguramente hemos crecido mucho, respeto al pasado. Soy realista pero optimista“.
“Las canciones que hemos escrito son más divertidas y al mismo tiempo más serias, no es fácil encontrar el equilibrio correcto entre los dos limites” sigue Todd Kerns, “Los temas son más primitivos y peligrosos… Un aspecto que personalmente me encanta. Espero poder tocar pronto en directo las canciones del nuevo disco, será una avalancha de sonido y gran rock’n'roll, os aseguro“.
Los planes son claros y no hay dudas sobre la fecha oficial: “Entraremos en el estudio ahora en febrero y nos quedaremos allí dentro durante los próximos meses” concluyó el bajista.
El productor del nuevo disco de Slash será Michael Baskette y será promocionado con una gira musical, antes en Estados Unidos y más tarde también en Europa y Sudamérica, una vez verificada la respuesta de los fans.
