Antemasque Announces Debut Album for July
Band features members from the Mars Volta, with Flea contributing to multiple tracks.
Not long after announcing their existence to the world last week, rock supergroup Antemasque has revealed a release date for their debut album.
According to NME, the four-piece, which consists of former Mars Volta members Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez with contributions from Dave Elitch plus Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, will release a self-titled LP this July.
The announcement comes after a flurry of song releases from the band, starting a week ago (April 9) with “4 AM.” Three new songs have followed, culminating with the release of “Drown All Your Witches” today (April 16) to accompany the announcement of the new album.

“If the whole thing looked unplanned, that’s because it was,” the band collectively revealed in a statement about the record’s rollout over the past week. “The anticipation of what the reaction from fans and critics would be was very real for us with every new song we put out.”
The band is offering a bundle of their first three releases, including “4 AM,” with “Drown All Your Witches” received as a free download for the first 10,000 orders.
Antemasque is the first collaboration between Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez since the Mars Volta went on a hiatus in September 2012.
The release also clarifies Flea’s involvement with the band: unlike previously reported, the bassist did play on a few Antemasque songs (though not “Drown All Your Witches”) and lent studio space for recording, but is not officially part of the band– kind of similar to his involvement with the Mars Volta, which was as an on-again, off-again session musician who contributed to a few songs here and there.
Antemasque is out July 15 on Rodriguez-Lopez’s Nadie Sound label.

Antemasque revela detalles de su primer disco
La semana pasada los ex The Mars Volta y Flea anunciaron que trabajarían juntos en un nuevo proyecto.
Titulando a este nuevo proyecto con el nombre de Antemasque tres ex-miembros de The Mars Volta y Flea entregaron la semana pasada gracias a las redes sociales tres temas, los cuales forman parte de una esperada nueva producción musical. Sin dejar de lado la importancia de que están usando sus redes personales para dar los anuncios, ahora dieron la fecha para la publicación de su primer LP el 15 de julio, siendo este de producción independiente.
El debut del proyecto será homónimo a su nombre, Antemasque y llegará en poco más de dos meses, ya se puede pre-ordenar el disco a través de Nadie Sound. Además anunciaron que los primeros 10.000 en hacerlo recibirán una descarga del nuevo tema “Drown All Your Witches”. Hasta ahora ahora han estrenado 4 temas, “Hangin’ in the Lurch”, “4AM” , “Drown All Your Witches” y “People Forget”.
La primera información dada sobre el proyecto vino de la red social de Flea, de los Red Hot Chili Peppers, diciendo que formaba parte de la banda, de este el grupo conformado por el dúo de Omar Rodríguez-López y Cedric Bixler-Zavala, además ahora quedó claro que formó parte del proceso creativo, no solamente prestando su estudio, sino además tocando en algunas partes del disco.
