The Kinks: Ray Davies to be inducted into Songwriters Hall Of Fame

Kinks leader Ray Davies is among the 2014 inductees headed into the
 Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Davies will be joined by fellow inductees Donovan, Graham Gouldman, Mark James and Jim Weatherly at the 45th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on June 12th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Davies founded The Kinks with his brother Dave in London in 1964. As the band’s lead singer and chief songwriter, Ray wrote a string of 14 top ten international hits starting with “You Really Got Me” and followed by “All Day and All of The Night,” “Tired of Waiting For You,” “Set Me Free,” ‘‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion,” “Sunny Afternoon,” “Waterloo Sunset,” “Lola,” “Apeman,” “Come Dancing” and many more.

The Kinks will mark their 50th anniversary this year with a new box set and a Kinks’ musical entitled “Sunny Afternoon.”

Ray recently revealed that the band are also considering a reunion to mark the anniversary, saying “It’s as close as it’s ever been to happening.”
